As we first told you here, the feature film The Goldfinch is headed to New Mexico.
Since that initial scoop in November of last year, some exciting casting news has come to pass. Notably, star of Stranger Things and It, Finn Wolfhard will join Oscar winner Nicole Kidman and Golden Globe nominees Sarah Paulson and Ansel Elgort in the film.
Goldfinch is a contemporary drama centered around the story of a young boy who loses his mother in a bombing at the Metropolitan Museum of Art. He survives the explosion and absconds with the highly valuable Fabritius’ painting, The Goldfinch. A rich, Upper East Side family takes him in and he later reunites with his father — an alcoholic, gambling addict who takes him to Las Vegas.
Filming is currently underway on location in New York. The production is slated to head to New Mexico to shoot in April.
The first background casting call for “middle school kids,” ages 11 – 14 has just been released.
