Get Epix and “Get Shorty,” now!
The cable and satellite television network Epix carries not one but two New Mexico made productions.
“Graves,” starring Nick Nolte and Sela Ward has recently wrapped on the second full season of the political satire.
The network’s latest offering is garnering rave reviews for its “best series yet.” Series co-star Ray Ramano tells Variety, “It was fun to play a guy that was a little angst, a little desperate, and a little tortured. We’re all in there,” Romano said. “I was a fan of the movie, but this was different than the movie also in that it was dirtier.”
“Get Shorty,” the series, is based on the novel by Elmore Leonard which also spawned the 1995 movie starring John Travolta, Gene Hackman, Rene Russo and Danny DiVito.
The new show follows Miles Daly (Chris O’Dowd), who works as muscle for a murderous crime ring in Nevada (aka New Mexico). For the sake of his daughter, he attempts to change professions and become a movie producer by enlisting washed up b-movie maker Rick Moreweather (Ray Ramano). To fund this new venture he attempts to launder money through a Hollywood film. But instead of leaving the criminal world behind, he accidentally brings it with him to Los Angeles.
