Big thanks to everyone who made 2017 our most successful Film & Media Day EVER!

Industry professionals, students from all around the state, a cast of hundreds and hundreds of crew, talent, filmmakers, resources and film businesses, and legislators were all on hand to support and celebrate New Mexico film & TV.

Biggest since The Avengers open call in 2011- it has since evolved into serious business concentrated and focused and putting New Mexicans to work in an exciting and sustainable industry.

Stars, including Chris Browning and SAG-AFTRA Board member Frances Lee McCain (Footloose, Gremlins, Stand By Me) – now starring in the New Mexico productions Preacher, and coming soon in Ideal Home and Midnight Texas!

Events included panels, casting sessions, premieres of upcoming productions. Everything, including meals, was presented to the public for FREE thanks to the Shoot NM organization and IATSE Local 480 – PLUS an elite roster of valued sponsors and vendors!

Shoot New Mexico announcements:
1.) New Mexico’s Film and Television Hall of Fame to recognize the good and the great of New Mexico movie business.
2.) A new initiative called ” Reel Access” to help those with challenges access New Mexico’s exciting film and TV sets.
3.) A new identification card to make sure that only New Mexicans are rebated by the state.
4.) “No Limits, No Lines,” a cooperative effort to teach New Mexicans skills through moviemaking. Our online moviemaking web series will be followed by hands-on practical shoots to create content for our next big thing.

1.) New Mexico Actors Showcase – live on March 17 at the South Broadway Cultural Center. To submit send in a 2 minute video audition by February 20. This year’s categories include:

17 years old and under

Beginner: 0-10 roles

Intermediate: 11-20 roles

Professional: 21 + roles

Senior: age 55 +

2.) New Mexico Girls Make Movies Grant

$1,000 production budget and the support of a professional Santa Fe crew
Submissions close March 15, 2017 at 11:59 pm (MST)

Entries are open through March 15, 2017.

3.) New Mexico Scholastic Screenwriters Grant – High School and College students have a chance to win cash prizes

Three finalist will be selected to have their scripts read by local actors at the Governor’s Mansion in April. Cash prizes will be awarded to those three finalists.

Looking for a Film Liaison Assistant in Guadalupe County.
Qualifications: over 18 years of age, Have access to a computer, have an email address, and cellphone. Person must have effective communication skills.
Person will review and sign New Mexico State Film Liaison guidelines, receive the State Film Liaison Binder, and attend annual NM Film Office Annual Liaison meeting.
Person will assist me sporadically with searching for filming locations, relaying information, submitting location photographs, and working with communities (networking) to attract productions to Guadalupe County.
