Post-Civil War, network pilot to film in New Mexico

Director Rod Lurie (The Last Castle, Killing Reagan) will head-up the Post-Civil War Drama “Monsters of God.” The production is a series pilot for the TNT Network scheduled to film in New Mexico beginning this month.

Brad Pitt’s Oscar winning production company, Plan B Entertainment, will produce the backdoor pilot – which is rumored to be gearing-up for a multi-season, multi-year shoot. The pilot production will star Garret Dillahunt, Caitlin Gerard, Pat Healy and Catherine Haun.

Set in late 1800s Texas “Monsters of God” follows two powerful ex-cavalry men, war-hungry Colonel Bill Lancaster (Dillahunt), and his seemingly by-the-book executive officer (Healy). Savagery and violence are the cornerstones of Colonel’s holy war against the Comanche in the post-Civil War era.

Producer Sarah Esberg says, “Monsters of God is our version of a western chock-full of violence, sex and insane characters.” Jeremy Kleiner, Marc Frydman and DeDe Gardner round out the producing team. Lurie is screenwriter as well as director on project.
