Truth or Consequences, New Mexico – Home of world famous natural hot springs…
The inaugural Film Fiesta has announced some of the lineup of major movie stars, award winning filmmakers and celebrity panelists who will be part of this year’s events, including a celebrity meet & greet on Saturday evening in the courtyard at the iconic Pelican Spa.
Deep Roy of “Charlie and the Chocolate Factory” fame will be one of the honorary celebrity guests. “During the heydays of Fiesta many celebrities would come to T or C, and we want to bring back that excitement to Fiesta weekend. Everyone knows the Oompa Loompas from “Charlie and the Chocolate Factory”. That movie is a classic, and I am so excited to bring Roy to our town,” said Cristal Jones, executive Director of the Film Fiesta.
Hollywood star Chris Browning whose recent television projects include “Sons of Anarchy”, “Supergirl”, and “Agent Carter,” to name a few, will be a special guest at the Film Fiesta. Browning has also starred in New Mexico movies “The Book of Eli”, “Let Me In”, “Terminator Salvation”, “Cowboys & Aliens” and the upcoming film, “Shot Caller”. “My wife was excited when she read about the hot springs. This trip will be epic” says Browning as he prepares to bring his family for the film festival events.
“Another aspect of the Film Fiesta that I think is important is our panel on how to get started in the film industry,” said Jones. Talent agent Tina Presley, who represents dozens of actors in television series and film, will be presenting an informational panel in conjunction with a casting session being held on site to find the next rising star in Southern New Mexico’s booming film business.
Internationally award winning New Mexico filmmaker Alejandro Montoya Marin will present his latest sizzle reel and discusses his recently wrapped series pilot, “The Joneses”.
“We will be doing free headshots for everyone who comes to the panel so that they can start getting gigs as [background] for movies coming to southern New Mexico. It’s a great way to make money and it is a lot of fun to work on set,” said Jones.
Director Ross Marks and producer Dan Williams will premiere “Road Side Motel,” a spec pilot shot in T or C’s downtown Dude Motel.
Additional films and events to be announced.
